A Trip To A French Chateau With Stylist Magazine
This was originally published in my newsletter. If you’d like to subscribe, you can do so here.
I flew to France on Wednesday. I was invited as an “social media influencer” (I know, SORRY) to a chateau in France with the Stylist editorial team. When I got the invitation in my inbox I was kind of blinking with disbelief. Did I want to come to France (yes) to a big Chateau that sleeps 20 people (yes), to watch a special issue of Stylist magazine being made from scratch (yes), make cocktails with the sponsor Chambord (yes) and meet inspirational women? OMG, YES PLEASE WHERE DO I SIGN.
We arrived on Wednesday night and watched Sex And The City on the coach (the last two episodes when Carrie she goes to Paris to try and make it work with that sleezeball Aleksandr Petroxsky and then Big comes and saves her, SWOON). On arrival we got handed a big old cocktail with a dash of Chambord, posed taking photos in the amazing apartment, room and rolltop bath and just in general lost our shit Snapchatting the luxury 5* Chateau because come on, none of us could pretend this was a “normal” occurrence. I’m normally in a onesie hunched over my laptop stressing about something and wondering if someone’s going to make me “go back to the shittiest job I’ve ever had”, as Anne T Donahue so brilliantly summed up Imposter Syndrome on my podcast recently.
We sat in on a panel called “Life Lessons”, hosted by the editor in chief of Stylist, where two gorgeous Parisians, the editor of Stylist France Audrey Diwan and my pal Freddie Harrell (proud!) spoke about how French women date, love, style themselves and live their lives. It was really interesting and inspiring – and the main takeaways for me were some tools on about how to be more resilient and passionate in my day to day life. French women don’t take any bull.
Friday morning we heard the news about the EU referendum. If you follow me on Twitter or read my newsletter, you’ll know my point of view on this.
Aside from this sombre send-off, I wanted to write this blog post to say THANK YOU SO MUCH STYLIST MAGAZINE for honestly one of the best trips I’ve ever been on – organised perfectly. A dream come true.
