So excited to share this!
It’s not every day you get flown out to LA to partner with Microsoft in a big way and feature in their latest big TV campaign. *Pinches self*
I’m extremely happy to be working with a brand I’ve admired for years and one I’ve grown up with. We all remember our love affair with our first Windows PC, I LOVED mine. As you know, my writing over the years has being heavily focused on Millennial trends, technology and my book is even called Ctrl Alt Delete, so it’s a such great match. The whole shoot was a truly brilliant experience, I got to work with some many crazily talented people and it was shot in the iconic Hollywood Studios.
I’m so happy Microsoft is championing my story, being a multi-hyphenate twenty-something woman (aka “slashie”) trying not to be pigeon-holed in whatever content I want to make. There’s so many of us now: juggling multiple career paths and zigzagging our way to the top, instead of chasing the hierarchal straight-forward career ladder that was the norm for many previous generations. I used to dread the “what to you do?” question. I felt like no matter how I framed it, it always seemed to come out in a higgledy piggledy way and sound like “oh, just a bit of this and a bit of that.”
But what I do is not just “this and that”. It’s lots of endeavours rolled into one which all make up One Big Career. I’ve learned to own this fact with confidence. I might not have One Job but that’s okay. I have multiple skills, multiple income streams, fingers in pies and many strings to my bow. Turns out I’ve never felt more stable or powerful since being a slashie.
So, thank you Microsoft, for celebrating multi-hyphenate creatives, championing my writing, blogging and podcasting and giving me such a memorable and exciting experience – it was the most fun I’ve ever had on shoot.
