Internet Friends Storytelling night – UCB Theatre, LA.

Tickets available here. Anyone who grew up online knows how special it is to find that one person who gets you…if only they didn’t live a million miles away. Join two online turned IRL friends, who met on the internet, for a night of stories from their mutual virtual gals pals! It’s like a blind first date and sleepover party all rolled into one amazing show. Hosted By Heather Sundell and Emma Gannon. Featuring Stories From Jessie Rosen, Erin Mallory Long, Sara Benincasa.

Live podcast with Emily Reynolds

I will be joined by journalist and author Emily Reynolds for a special intimate edition of her Ctrl Alt Delete podcast to talk about Emily’s debut book A Beginner’s Guide To Losing Your Mind published by Hodder & Stoughton. The podcast will be recorded in the Waterstones Gower St gallery from 6.30pm with a small live audience (so snap up your ticket fast!). We will be discussing the topics in Emily’s book, such as how to date when you are mentally unwell, navigating the internet and the online mental health community, treatments and tips on maintaining mental and physical self-care. Come along, grab a drink and join the conversation. Emma and Emily will both be available to sign copies of their books after the podcast recording.

Ctrl Alt Delete: Bossin It

This is the first of our Ctrl Alt Delete: Bossin’ it series with Emma Gannon, speaker, author, blogger, podcaster and much much more. In this series Emma will be hosting intimate, informal live interviews (just like her podcast) showcasing different women every month who we think are bossin’ their industries.

To kick off the series, we’ve got the glamorous Helen Whitaker heading over for Emma to rack her brains. She is the entertainment editor for Glamour magazine and deals with everything from organising cover shoots, liaising with agents, planning the TV – AND the event of the year: The Glamour Awards. The Oxford Union

I will be speaking on the topic of: Does Social Media Corrupts Human Interactions? 1.8 billion Facebook users;  1 billion Tinder swipes each day.  We’re interacting at breakneck speed through social media but, without face-to-face contact, are we really communicating?  While more inter-connected than ever before, we also seem to be more isolated and more superficial.  Has social media enhanced friendships and relationships or corrupted them? Podcasting has been around since the early 2000s, but has boomed in popularity in the last few years alone. But why is podcasting so popular? Has it revolutionised the way brands and influencers communicate with their audience? What does the future hold? LSE – Digital Revolution

5 – 6.30pm on Saturday.  LSE’s 9th Literary Festival marks the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution, but also other anniversaries of revolutions in literature, international relations, politics, religion and science with a series of free events bringing together award-winning authors and prominent academics to celebrate multi-disciplinary thinking.

Betty Magazine – The Girl’s Club

Make it Happen. Give Up Your Day Job. Ever wanted to change your career?! Well The Girls Club would like to introduce you to three women who did just that, with remarkable results. Sara Tasker, Dolly Alderton and Emma Gannon all changed their career paths and are now producing podcasts, online courses, publishing books and writing newsletters to an audience of thousands. Our Lives Online Panel

I have curated this panel and am very excited to be chairing it. I’ll be chatting to Deliciously Ella’s food empire stemmed from her healthy-eating blog, Lliana Bird of #HelpRefugees helped thousands after her and her friends’ kitchen table activism reached global networks via Twitter and June Eric-Udorie has made incredible strides in discussions around feminism and race with her online writing and activism. Build Your Own Brand Workshop

Don’t worry, this won’t be buzzwordy or cheesy, but practical and helpful. In a small session we’re going to discuss real life tools to get that ~thing you always wanted to launch~ off the ground. Whether you blog about property, tweet about jewellery-making, or pin about home interiors, a WiFi connection and social media platforms can be all you need to get noticed, both personally and professionally. I’m leading a one-off workshop all about how to build a personal brand online, for those either looking to boost their business or hone their hobby.
