The Avalon Hotel: Where Dreams Are Made Of

I need to tell you about the Avalon Hotel in Palm Springs – an absolutely beautiful hotel, which feels more like a home, or a community hangout than anything else. You come and go as you please, it is pet-friendly, the staff are wonderful, and our room wasn’t your usual hotel room. We had a bungalow room, which meant it felt like a mini apartment: we had our own kitchen, living space, open-plan bedroom and even a fancy dining room. We played ping-pong every night in the warm late afternoon sun before dinner. It was BLISS.

Even though the staff do encourage you to get out and about (and you are 5 minute walk from the main ‘strip’ of shops and restaurants) it is tempting to want to stay and eat at the hotel’s own restaurant, called Chi Chi, a lot. It’s rare that the restaurant offering is amazing at a hotel, mainly you book based on liking the rooms, but Chi Chi is brilliant in it’s own right. (I loved the Mexican style breakfast options). Even if you’re not staying at the hotel you can book a table there or wander in and making a booking. The restaurant tables are situated right next to the pool with views of palm trees and mountains, and it’s VERY relaxing indeed. LOOK AT THAT VIEW.

Tucked away around the back of the pool is the Estrella spa which has it’s own sun-lounger area and mini pool for you to relax pre or post-treatment. It’s roomy inside, and extremely tranquil. I had the deep tissue therapeutic massage that penetrates deeper layers of muscle tissue, restores range of motion and relieves muscle soreness. My shoulders are always needed some deep massaging because of the amount of time hunched over a laptop, which I’m sure is the case for most of us. I love hotels that have an informal relaxed vibe, where you can just wear your robe around the pool and feel totally at home. I did not want to leave. Take me back…..
